The spherical, gold and enamel case decorated with flowers, birds and insects, having a fixed stem with stirrup bow and sprung front cover which contains a viniagrette with pierced and hinged gold cover. The white enamel dial with Arabic hour numerals, outer minutes chapter and Arabic quarter hour divisions, being wound through the dial, having gold hands and bearing the signature, 'Gide & Bondet Fils.' The fusee and verge, gilt movement measuring just 20mm in diameter with silvered regulator disc and delicately pierced bridge cock, being signed to the top plate, Gide & Blondet Fils, together with its original gold and enamel chain and Breguet 'ratchet' key, the whole contained within its felt and silk lined red Moroccan leather keep box.

Gide et Blondet Fils worked in Paris in the 1780s. They specialised in decorative gold and enamel watches, there being a flagon shaped watch by them in the Fitzwilliam museum, Cambridge and a spherical gold and enamel example in the Frankel Collection.
