The plain outer case with seven joint hinge and stepped bezel, the inner case with stirrup bow and shutter to the winding square. The white enamel dial with black Roman hour numerals, outer minutes divisions and Arabic five minute markers, having blued steel beetle and poker hands. The gilt, fusee, verge movement with baluster pillars, silvered regulator disc and balance cock with pierced foot, being signed to the top plate, S DeCharmes LONDON.

Simon DeCharmes was a Frenchman working in London, being active 1688-1730. He is considered a fine maker and examples of his work can be found in the Clockmakers' Company Museum at the Guildhall, London and various other collections and institutions.
