The substantial 18 carat gold, plain case by Fred Thoms with monogram to the sprung front cover, hinged back and 'swivel' bow. The white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, outer chapter marked for fifths of seconds, blued steel spade hands, offset seconds at VI, central chronograph hand and hour register dial at XII, the chronograph being operated by a single button in the band with a START-STOP-FLYBACK function, being signed across the centre 'BOWMAN LTD. LONDON E.C.' The keyless, gilt movement with English lever escapement, freesprung bi-metallic temperature compensated balance, blued steel hairspring, screwed in jewels and raised barrell, the top plate being signed, 'Bowman Limited 68-70 Goswell Road London E.C.'

The casemaker, Fred Thoms, is considered one of the finest of his generation. He developed the 'swivel' bow as an anti-theft device.
